Despite being charged with murderm the athlete claims it was an accident, saying he thought she was an intruder.
Steenkamp’s parents want him to come clean.
“It’s only Oscar, Reeva that know the true story,” Barry Steenkamp said on Sunday. “And all I want, whether it will help me or it won’t, he must just come out with the honest truth.”

‘Totally weird’: Pistorius detective faces attempted murder charges for firing on bus full of passengers
South Africa’s National Prosecuting Authority acknowledged Thursday that the timing of attempted murder charges against a policeman leading the investigation into Oscar Pistorius was “totally weird” and that the policeman should be dropped from the case against the world-famous athlete.
Bulewa Makeke, spokeswoman for the NPA, said it was a decision for police and not prosecutors whether to take detective Hilton Botha off the case that has riveted the world’s attention and is bringing scrutiny on South Africa’s justice system. Botha testified on Wednesday in the case, acknowledging that nothing in Pistorius’ account of the fatal Valentine’s Day shooting of his girlfriend contradicted what police had discovered. That testimony in the double amputee’s bail hearing marked a setback for the prosecution.

‘Non-stop shouting’ in Pistorius’ home night of girlfriend’s death, witness says
A witness heard “non-stop shouting” in the home of athletics star Oscar Pistorius shortly before his girlfriend was shot dead, the lead detective in the murder investigation said on Wednesday.
Warrant officer Hilton Botha, a detective with 24 years on the force, also told the Pretoria magistrates court that police had found two containers of testosterone and needles in Pistorius’ bedroom.

Oscar Pistorius says he shot his girlfriend to death by mistake, thinking she was a robber.
The double amputee said in an affidavit read by his lawyer at his bail hearing Tuesday that he felt vulnerable because he did not have on his prosthetic legs when he pumped bullets into the locked bathroom door.
Then he realized that model Reeva Steenkamp was not in his bed. He says “It filled me with horror and fear …”
He put on his legs, tried to kick down the door, then bashed it in with a cricket bat to find Steenkamp, 29, shot inside.

Oscar Pistorius held his head in his hands and wept openly in court Friday as prosecutors said they would pursue a charge of premeditated murder against the Olympian.
Pistorius was formally charged at Pretoria Magistrate’s Court with one count of murder after his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, a model and budding reality TV show participant, was shot and killed at Pistorius’ upmarket home in the predawn hours of Thursday.
Prosecutor Gerrie Nel said Friday in court it was premeditated murder, indicating the prosecution would file that more serious charge, upgraded from murder.

Oscar Pistorius has been charged with the murder of his girlfriend after model Reeva Steenkamp was shot inside the Olympic athlete’s home in South Africa.
Police said a 26-year-old male would appear in court later today.

IOC leaders have dropped wrestling for the 2020 Games in a surprise decision to scrap one of the oldest sports on the Olympic program.
The IOC executive board decided Tuesday to retain modern pentathlon – the event considered most at risk – and remove wrestling instead from its list of core sports.
The decision, announced by the IOC, was first reported by The Associated Press.
The IOC board acted after reviewing the 26 sports on the current Olympic program. Eliminating one sport allows the International Olympic Committee to add a new sport to the program later this year.
A year before the 2014 Winter Olympics are to begin, President Vladimir Putin has demanded that a senior member of the Russian Olympic Committee be fired, apparently due to cost overruns in host city Sochi.
The current price tag for the Sochi Games is US$51-billion, which would make them the most expensive games in the history of the Olympics – more costly even than the much-larger Summer Olympics held in London and Beijing.
During his tour of Olympic venues, Putin fumed when he heard that the cost of the ski jump had soared from US$40-million to US$265-million and the project was behind schedule.

A former U.S. Olympian whose running career led to motivational speaking engagements and gigs representing such top companies as Disney has ended it all by outing herself as a high-paid Las Vegas call girl.
Suzy Favor Hamilton spilled the beans on her Belle de Jour-like experience by confessing her identity to some of the men who paid for her favours, The Smoking Gun reports.
She was apparently amazed when one of them talked.
“I take full responsibility for my mistakes. I’m not the victim and I’m not going to go that route,” she told a TSG reporter who approached her in the lobby of a Las Vegas hotel.
“I’m owning up to what I did. I would not blame anybody except myself.”
Canadian soccer star Christine Sinclair has been suspended for four games and fined $3,500 for an incident at the London Olympics.
FIFA, the sport’s governing body, opened an investigation into undisclosed events after Canada lost its semi-final against the United States, a 4-3 loss marked by questionable calls from Norwegian referee Christiana Pedersen. FIFA’s disciplinary committee was to weigh the case last Friday.
According to a release distributed by the Canadian Soccer Association on Friday, Sinclair was being punished by FIFA “for displaying unsporting behaviour towards match officials after the match.”
Sinclair has stood by comments she made after the loss in London, including this one: “It’s a shame in a game like that that was so important, the ref decided the result before it started.”
Legendary Ottawa figure skater Barbara Ann Scott, who won a gold medal at the 1948 Olympics along with the hearts of Canadians, died Sunday evening in San Fernandina, Fla.
In the year she won Olympic gold, Scott also won national, continental, European and world figure skating championships. She remains the only Canadian skater to win a singles gold medal at the Winter Olympics.
Newfoundland boy offers his medal to disqualified men’s Olympic relay team
A Newfoundland boy who sent a letter and his soccer medal to the Canadian men’s 4X100 relay team says he simply wanted to boost their spirits after they were disqualified from an Olympic bronze medal.
Elijah Porter’s handwritten note garnered national attention after Justyn Warner, a member of the team, tweeted it Monday.
In his letter, the 10-year-old Paradise boy said it wasn’t right when the team lost its bronze medal for a lane violation.
Porter later said he wrote the letter because he felt bad for the team, particularly Jared Connaughton, who stepped on the border of his lane prior to handing off the baton to Warner during their race Saturday.
