Lost Girl and found lead Anna Silk
Long before Lost Girl proved to be a hit TV series, the writers and producers behind the production came dangerously close to calling it off. Then along came Fredericton’s Anna Silk.
“We spent months and months auditioning in Vancouver and L.A. and Toronto, trying to find someone suited for the lead role,” says Lost Girl executive producer Jay Firestone, who is also a Gemini Award-winning film and television producer. “We couldn’t, and then we found Anna, who was by far the best actress that we saw, with so much talent and range.”
What they needed was someone to play a heroic succubus character out to do good and make sense of her world. That meant someone the audience would root for, someone with a lot sex appeal, integrity and strength. Silk, Firestone says, fit the mould, and more.
