Spacecraft bringing food to Space Station astronauts misses mark, burns up
A Russian spacecraft bringing food and fuel supplies to six astronauts in the International Space Station failed to reached orbit on Wednesday, burning up in the atmosphere, space officials said.
Russia’s space agency said the crash was no cause for an emergency evacuation of the astronauts, who are from Russia, U.S. and Japan, and there was still enough food and water aboard the orbital station.
“The emergency situation on the Soyuz-U booster and failure of the cargo Progress M-12M spacecraft to reach its targeted orbit will not affect the life support of the crews,” Roskomos said in a statement on its website.
