Meet André, the goose who thought he was a rabbit. The fluffy gosling was found in a Port Alberni driveway, alone and dehydrated, so rescuers brought him to the World Parrot Refuge in Coombs, B.C. Knowing the parrots would have ripped him apart, the director of a nearby rabbit sanctuary took him in instead. There, he ate and slept with the rabbits but was taken for swims to remind him of his goose-ness. When he got older, they set him free to acclimatize with other waterfowl, but one can only assume they didn’t like his rabbit-ness. Now, after some intense rehabilitation and a little help from some goose friends, André seems to be doing fine, splashing around in the water and such. “He’s definitely goose-like now,” said Wild ARC manager Kari Marks.
