Clint Eastwood’s speech, whether cringe worthy or ‘unique,’ an unneeded distraction for Mitt Romney
Thursday night was arguably the most important night of Mitt Romney’s career so far, an opportunity to establish a personal connection with independent voters that has so far eluded him. Yet come Friday morning all anyone seemed to be talking about is how the Republican presidential nominee was upstaged by an empty chair.

Actor and director Clint Eastwood’s bizarre and rambling speech warming up for Romney — highlighted by constant asides to an invisible U.S. President Barack Obama sitting in an empty chair — made the day for the Twitter snark sharks and bored journalists looking for something out of the talking points.
